THE END OF AN ERA

It is with great regret that we announce that after 97 years, Epsom Coaches will no longer be offering coaches for private hire and our famed holiday and day trip programme will also end in June 2017. We will continue to provide bus services for TfL and our coach contract division will continue to provide staff travel services for many local bodies and providing National Express services. The company will in future be known as Quality Line, the trading name for our London bus operations. The new company will continue to operate from our Epsom base and will continue to be one of the area’s largest employers. There are plans to develop the brand further and to expand the range of bus and contract services provided.

Epsom Coaches iconic livery will disappear and its services will all finish by 25th June. Prior to this, the full holiday and day trip programme will be operated and are expected to be very popular as this will be the last chance to travel in an Epsom Coach and enjoy the best of Britain and Europe. Coaches will continue to be available for private hire up until 25th June as well.

The company’s Manager Director, Steve Whiteway who has been with the company for 37 years, is intending to retire from the business at the end of June. Steve said “it is obviously sad to see the end of Epsom Coaches after so many years, but I am proud of our unrivalled record for quality and that the company continues to be in good financial health. However, the market for coaches has changed dramatically in the past few years and the level of investment required is very high. That together with the difficulty of maintaining our high standards in today’s economic and social climate has led to the decision, that it is better to go out on a high and ensure we record our place in history, as one of the pioneering innovators in the coach industry and a business that always applied old fashioned courtesy with modern thinking. In my experience, a unique combination.

“Our staff have always been at the heart of what we do, I could not have wished for a better team and I pay tribute to them, for all they have achieved and will achieve under the new management. I will be very sad to leave after all these years, but content that we have been very much part of our community and provided exceptional service to our many thousands of customers. I want that to be the abiding memory of this unique company. Our heritage and traditions will be retained in a unique collection of photographs and artefacts, but mostly in the hearts of our staff past and present, along with our customers”
